Despite headlines warning Celtic and Rangers to “beware” of new Hearts head coach Wouter Vrancken, the dramatic endorsement simply comes from former Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld speaking to a Scandinavian gambling site.
Alderweireld told outlet Hajper that his fellow countryman will win over fans using an attacking, high-risk style known in Belgium as “organised chaos,” insisting Vrancken has what it takes to mount a genuine title challenge in Scotland.
The glowing testimonial arrives during a rocky start for the 47-year-old manager. Vrancken has lost all four of his opening competitive games at Tynecastle, including a 6-0 aggregate defeat to Sturm Graz in Champions League qualifying and a recent 6-1 thrashing by Benfica in Lisbon.
Following the loss in Portugal, Vrancken acknowledged his team failed to stick to the game plan in the first half and conceded “two stupid penalties,” though he remained hopeful that a improved second-half display would help his squad recover mentally for domestic fixtures.
